Last week mom and I decided to go on a little road trip. Mom said she has always wanted to drive down the coast and see all the lighthouses. I'd never thought about looking at lighthouses so I was excited for a new adventure. We packed up my truck, scooped up Jack Jack (ma's chihuahua) and headed north on I-5 up to Portland.
We spent the 1st night just NW of Portland on the Columbia River Highway. It was really beautiful. I'd never driven on that highway before. There were lots of bridges, every shape and size. The next morning we headed toward Astoria for the 1st lighthouse, and my favorite, the Astoria Column (1).

It was so beautiful and painting with the Lewis and Clark story. Astoria was really cute too. I look forward to going back and spending some time. The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop were filmed here.
From Astoria we started south to Seaside which was really cute too. A lot of little shops and stuff. The lighthouse (2) there was on an island off shore and it was way to foggy and far away for my camera to capture a shot. Next stop was Canon Beach and Haystack rock.

The next lighthouse we drove way off the beaten path to find. I think it was called Meares Lighthouse (3). It was a short stubby version of a lighthouse. It was really interesting to see how different the lighthouses were from each other.

It started to rain on us, but mostly we had really nice weather.

This was a dual self portrait, mom's taking one too. :) From there we continued south. We stopped at the Tillamook cheese factory, got some ice cream and cheese curds. Yummm!! Then we went on to Lincoln City. We shopped the outlet mall and I found many great deals, of course. We decided to spend the night there since neither of us are night time drivers.

I don't remember the name of this one. Lighthouse #4

I think this is Yaquina (5) , or something like that. Around Newport.

My artistic bridge photo.

Cape Perpetua Lighthouse (6) was the hardest one to find. We stopped at 4 turnouts before we finally got a view of it. It was a dangerous task but we weren't going this far to miss one. :)

Haceta Head Lighthouse (7) is a very classic lighthouse. I thought they would all look like this one.

This is the last one we saw (8). It was near Reedsport, I think. I can't remember the name but it was in the middle of a neighborhood, which I thought was kind of strange.
After we were all done with our lighthouse extravaganza we went on to Ashley's house for her birthday. Ashley turned 24 on March 16. We all decided we would head back over to Eugene that night to try to keep Lincoln on a schedule since we needed to be there early the next morning for our pedicures. I LOVE PEDICURES!!! Thanks MOM! It's pretty crazy! :) Here are few of my favorite pics of us together.
